2) Announcing the New Technology Procurement Policy

Resource Management Office and the Office of the Chief Information Officer have launched the Washington University Technology Procurement Policy. The new policy will provide a defined process for both the new and recurring procurement (through purchase or lease) of computer hardware (costing at least $150,000), software and services (costing at least $50,000) using Washington University funds or grant funds administered by Washington University. The policy will help leverage the IT investment, ensure alignment with the IT strategy and improve the quality of vendor contracts. It is an integral part of both the university’s information technology strategy and overall cost containment strategy to support the institution’s academic missions of teaching, patient care and research.

Should you have any questions, please contact Greg Parrott at 314-935-5024 or Alan Kuebler at 314-935-5727.

Marketplace Favorites
There is new functionality with Marketplace Favorites!

You can now find your shopping favorites with a new Search button that is available on the Favorites management screen. Search terms can be entered in the window and it searches your favorites folders for matches. Clicking on an item in the search results takes you directly to the favorite or the folder.

  1. Do you want to share your favorites with another user? There are two ways to accomplish this:
You can have a “shared folder” set up that provides other users access to a favorites list you have created.
  2. You can now export your favorites and provide them to another user that can easily import them.

Accounting Code Favorites
Do you have an accounting code string that is frequently used or you use one or more complex splits? Consider creating an Accounting Code favorite to save time and reduce the chance for errors. To set up your favorite, click on your ‘name’, ‘view profile’, ‘default user setting’, and ‘accounting code defaults’. Then select ‘code favorites’.
